Undergraduate Research Assistant Opportunity

Dr. Lavanya Marla in ISE department is currently looking for some undergraduate students to work with her grad student on a project.

Undergrads will be working on data mining and data processing of emergency medical system data on call records and GPS traces of ambulances. The data set(s) are about a year in length and have call center records and GPS traces. These two data sets will need to be combined to make a coherent and consistent data set.

If you’re interested in this opportunity or would like to know more about it, you can contact Dr. Marla directly (her email is in the link above to ISE page).

Plinko Project

We have been presenting the idea of the Plinko project for quite some times this semester. After speaking with the ISE department, we have developed a proposal for the project.  Below is some excerpt from the proposal.

Objective

To create a “Plinko” board that will allow the ISE Dept. and INFORMS to show how the scientific method, data analysis, and operations research methods can be applied to show the application of those techniques.

Fill out this form if you are interested in the Plinko Project: Interest form

After gathering enough interests, we will start forming teams and working on the project.
